Uttara Kannada: Deshpande insists on releasing more compensation for rain damage
MLA RV Deshpande has urged the state government to release more compensation for recent heavy rains in the coastal and mountainous parts of the state which have caused a lot of damage to public and government property.
In a statement to the media about this Deshpande said, due to the rain and the collapse of hills in different parts of the neighborhood, people's communication has also been cut off. State highways, district main roads and essential infrastructure are partially damaged to a large extent and their reconstruction works need to be taken up. Water entered the houses living in the river bank area and several houses were flooded. In some places, houses have collapsed and essential materials are flooded.
Also, due to the water flowing to the lands adjacent to the rivers, the agricultural and horticultural crops have been damaged a lot. Farmers' farm implements, pumpsets are washed away in water.
The government should come to the aid of the farmers by giving more compensation to the farmers and the refugees. 500 crores has been sanctioned by the Chief Minister for repair and restoration of infrastructure. But the amount of 500 crores allocated now is not enough. Because, they have demanded that more funds be released soon. Also, Deshpande has urged the Chief Minister to give proper direction to the officials to carry out the relief works in Samaropadi.
